How it all started...

Theresa Schmotzer, CEO of Remedy Pacific LLC, started her company in 2004 from a healthcare platform after she was contracted to assist with return to work cases.  While treating employees who had filed workmen's compensation claims, she noticed that there were a large number of fellow employees approaching her who indicated pain and discomfort but not to the point of themselves filing claims.  She developed an Early Intervention Program to assist those individuals on reducing their pain before costly workmen's compensation claims developed.  The demand for Early Intervention became so high that she started a pilot program for workgroups to keep costs down.  A hazard assessment of work areas identified large numbers of employees doing the same type of repetitive job tasks, and these groups were introduced to the injury and illness preventative program.  The program has proven results in improving employee morale and comfort levels, while decreasing or eliminating OSHA Reportable injuries and Illnesses , thereby significantly reducing the organization's injury compensation costs and MSDs.  Theresa's innovative methodology was recognized by the United States Patent and Trade Office in May 2012 with a patent of her Occupational Therapy and Ergonomic System.  Click here to read Ohio State University's Occupational Therapy Newsletter which recognized Theresa's unique patent award on page five.  Theresa was also featured in the article, "Patenting On-the-Job Injury Prevention," by the American Occupational Therapy Association's (AOTA) OT PRACTICE magazine.

Theresa has over 15 years of professional occupational therapy experience.  During this time, Remedy Pacific LLC completed hundreds of work place hazard assessments and developed and implemented ergonomic programs and injury prevention regimens for about 5000 employees in over 40 sites in California, Nevada, Arizona, and Hawaii.  Remedy Pacific's 41 therapists were actively involved in the success of 6 sites recognized by OSHA as STAR sites under its Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP).  The VPP element of Management Commitment and Employee Involvement toward continuing improvement promoting employee safety and health is an integral part of Theresa's patented program.
